Project Kickoff: Understanding the Foundations

At the project’s start, Albert shared the app’s existing screens, giving me insight into its core functions and user flow. On my first day, we held rapid brainstorming sessions to map touchpoints, define user personas, sketch wireflows, and outline user flows—quickly setting a clear design direction. I contributed fresh ideas for the furniture firm persona and sketched early wireflows for the conference manager dashboard. While personas were finalized later, incorporating them earlier would have strengthened user-centred decision-making.

Crafting a Seamless Onboarding Experience for Business Travelers

In week two, we focused on designing a clear, engaging onboarding experience tailored for business travelers. I created mid-fidelity mockups in Adobe XD, emphasizing visuals that reinforced messaging and simplified content for easy user adoption. I documented ideas and collaborated with Albert to refine wireframes and task flows, then handed off the designs to our UI partners for prototyping.

Creating a User-Friendly Experience for Conference Managers

Building on initial wireflows, I developed a detailed mid-fidelity dashboard mockup focused on clarity and ease of use for conference managers. Albert praised the design’s alignment with user needs. The mockup was handed off to Paperpillar for prototyping, which played a key role in user testing to validate usability and functionality.

Key Takeaways: Adapting to a Fast-Paced Startup

Working in a small, dynamic startup taught me the value of momentum and decisiveness. Constructive feedback on my initial hesitation in design decisions motivated me to deepen my UX/UI skills and confidently solve problems. I’ve embraced ambiguity and the iterative process, learning to tackle challenges directly and drive progress with clarity.
