SkyLaw is a corporate & securities law firm in Toronto that provides bespoke services to clients in Canada and internationally.

SkyLaw approached me to refresh their website, as it was last designed in 2010 and felt outdated, no longer reflecting who they are or where they want to go. They had also recently moved into a new office and wanted their digital presence to match the office's modern aesthetic. They have also been a law firm for 15 years, so they want the brand refresh to have a sophisticated feel to highlight their established status.
The sitemap process involved taking into account the common navbar items of law firms to map to the target clients' mental models, taking inventory of their current site sections, and working together with the client on what the new site should look like by rearranging the sections and adding new ones and dedicated pages to support the growth of their team and services. We collaborated to list out what each page should have so that their current and new clients can easily navigate to the info they need faster.
The first part of the project was to design a new brand identity. That included a colour palette that matches the latest office furniture and paint colours: a balance of muted, cool grey and earthy warm tones to evoke the law firm's modern, forward-thinking personality, yet still feel very approachable. The serif typography choice was drawn from researching top local and global law firms as a benchmark of the level of visual quality the website should have, emitting an authoritative and suave feel.
Connecting back to the word Sky in SkyLaw, I picked colour tints, and designed the layout and interactions with that in mind, with lighter colours, more breathable space and sleek interactions that resemble a smooth airplane taking off, and to tie back to their efficient, swift, customer-oriented services they provide.
While building out the website, I added a search functionality for clients to be able to quickly access key information, such as wanting to reach out to a specific lawyer immediately, read about a specific service or an article. The footer includes all of the pages and important sections to provide quick access to clients, and there’s a final CTA card on most pages for clients to immediately get in contact with a SkyLaw team member.
The new brand identity is in use for their LinkedIn presence.
